About & methods

01

Cutkind is a collection of small tools for planning timber cuts and quantities. No registration or specialist CAD setup is required.

02

The cut-list planner compares three greedy strategies. It sorts pieces by length, reuses partly cut bars, and opens available stock when needed. It is a suggested layout rather than a proof of the best possible arrangement.

03

All length calculations are normalized to millimetres, with packing rounded to 0.000001 mm. Allowances, material defects, clamping, joint geometry and grain matching must be checked for your own project.

04

The board-foot calculator uses the standard definition of one board foot as 144 cubic inches. Source: Penn State Extension, Valuing Standing Timber. No product prices or live exchange rates are supplied.
